Structure is a good thing. If I wake up without a plan on how I am going to win the day, I know it’s now closer to the day getting ahead of me.
By getting ahead, I mean, life taking over and all it’s demands, and not being able to see what I really want done.
That is why I have learned the importance of writing down all the things I plan to achieve for the week. I recommend making a list.
To do lists are great because you are now setting the tone of what you want your life to look like by shaping out the day. Especially when you have ideas and goals you want to achieve.
Sometimes our goals are really big, and we may not know where to start.
We must embrace the smaller steps to reaching our desired goals if we want to see them reached. That is because we tend to get discouraged when our plans don’t show up the way we intended for them to. My action steps on seeing big wins in my life, are created by very small tiny goals that I know I am more than capable of reaching.
It is also good to not delay in your approach to tackling the smaller goals.
Delay only creates more discouragement in your race to fulfill the desired outcome.
We may have a goal to drink more water. But if you haven’t been prone to drinking the recommend amount and are always on deficit, this particular goal may be more challenging than you think.
This is where it is important to create smaller goals that you know you can successfully complete.
Instead of aiming to drink a gallon of water a day, try aiming for drinking at least 3 cups of water by noon. Increasing your capacity each day a half cup at a time. I also recommend tracking these micro steps!
Here’s another example: Instead of declaring your new years resolution that you will be this 5k runner, rather, aim to start walking.
I recommend walking consistently at a fast pace for at least a few weeks before beginning to jog as your just starting out.
Then as you have an idea of how long your distances actually are, you can begin at a light jog at a pace that doesn’t exhaust you to the point that you don’t want to keep doing it the next day.
It’s all about congratulating yourself for the smaller steps you took towards where you want to be, and being excited that you did. Most of the time we can be so focused on the end result, and fail ourselves for not being our own best friends in the processes that got us there.
This is your sign to go for whatever it is that you been wanting to take on. Start small. If that end result for the day didn’t work out, then tomorrow start even smaller, and make sure you celebrate that. In this if you stick with it, you will see BIG WINS.
Consistently is the key, not perfection.
