The mind chatter if you give it power over your relationships, will make or break them. Remember whatever a man thinks so is he. Proverbs 23:7 But the Bible warns us to think about good things stating “Whatever is noble whatever is true whatever is good whatever is pure think about these things.” Philippians 4:8-9
Scripture is calling us to do something. Rather it is a commandment, that we think about good things and things that are true. We are also commanded to cast down anything that exalts itself above the Lord that includes how we battle within ourselves and within our own minds. “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
It is a daily battle it is also one that we are all facing. Some of us are better at managing it than others. And a lot of us need to practice self-control, when our minds and negative way of thinking, become too much. It’s no wonder we need a savior. We don’t realize it but we need a savior to save us from ourselves. The way we’ve been hurt and how we have not surrendered those past experiences and those memories to God means we are carrying around old baggage and old wounds and we bring that into our future selves and our relationships with everyone around us.
Let us release the patterns, that have shaped our decision-making and how we think things ought to be, by allowing God to dictate strengthen and shape our minds and our thinking and focus more on what God thinks from his insight, and his perspective.
Pray and ask God to show you whatever circumstance you’re facing through his eyes from his lens, instead of the lens of hurt, bitterness, anger, and pain.
The mind chatter will not stop. It will continue to plague your thoughts turning your actions into deadly decisions that have the power to destroy anything you allow it to. The hardest part of it may be coming to an understanding that we have the simplest yet most uneasy actions to make when the path of least resistance is calling us to allow ourselves the moments that trigger an emotion within us, but also letting those emotions GO.
How many of us have made irrational decisions within the context of a negative thought, emotion, and or feeling? Only later to put ourselves down even lower due to the guilt that follows after you have come back to your most levelheaded you.
So choose to let go quickly what doesn’t serve you in a good way pray for insight on areas you struggle with, and give all thoughts, good, and bad to the lord. Seek his guidance and help. Take your thoughts captive then surrender them to Lord, lay them at his feet, and stand firm on his promise to bring about change by changing the way you believe, feel, and think.
